Living Outside the Box, Part 1 ~ Three Life Perspectives

In conjunction with an exciting Summer Workshop Series I’m offering, I will periodically post brief glimpses into the content of the workshop for your benefit!

The workshop series is entitled, Living Outside the Box and is designed to help move participants toward a more proactive approach to living!

I am extremely excited about this workshop because I will convert the information shared this summer into an online program available to the public beginning fall 2013! Even if you can’t attend the workshops in McKinney, TX, you will get a “feel” for the program by reading this series of posts!

Three Life Perspectives!

Life can become unbalanced from time to time for all of us! Generally when this happens at least one of the Three Life Perspectives needs attention. And let’s be honest, sometimes all three need a little TLC. In order for life to flow smoothly – even when we face obstacles – these perspectives must work properly. What are the Three Life Perspectives? I thought you’d never ask! Here they are!

  1. The Spiritual Perspective – Please notice that I said “Spiritual” and not “Religious!” There is a difference! The Spiritual Perspective entails understanding, embracing and engaging those things that help us create meaning in life. The Spiritual Perspective is that which empowers us to transcend the mundane and find purpose beyond the obvious.
  2. The Interpersonal Perspective – We are social creatures by nature and design. Relationships drive all we do! We are reminded of this in John Donne’s familiar poem which says, “No man is an island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main.” The Interpersonal Perspective deepens our understanding of the interdependent nature of relationships and enables us to better connect with those around us.
  3. The Intrapersonal Perspective – Truly understanding and loving self are key components in taking a proactive approach to life! When we truly understand and love self, the ability to tap our personal resiliency becomes easier and more natural, thus allowing us to become more adept at creating our own destiny!

There you have it! Just three of the ideas we will explore in the Living Outside the Box Summer Workshop Series! Perhaps this brief glimpse provides a bit of context to  the meaning of a phrase I use quite frequently – “In order to truly live outside the box, we must learn how to Reach Up, Reach Out and Reach In!

Peace!
