Thank you for visiting our site and taking a few moments to read about how I approach counseling.

I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1994 and a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor since 2011. I received my BA in Sociology and Psychology from Hardin-Simmons University and my Master’s in Counseling from the University of North Texas.

I love working with people who sometimes find the challenges of life to be overwhelming. I firmly believe in the Power of Purposeful Personhood – the notion that individuals have the ability to live full and meaningful lives as they uncover purpose and direction in the process of living. As a therapist, I work to meet my clients where they are, become deeply familiar with their story, provide appropriate support as they uncover self-limiting beliefs/behaviors, and partner with them to create practical/livable solutions.

I work best with clients who are motivated to move toward personal health, wellness, and wholeness through purposeful evaluation of their current life situation. I believe that individuals possess everything needed to construct a life of their choosing by learning to tap into and employ personal resiliency when engaging life and all of its complexity. I work well with clients struggling with loss/grief, blended family challenges, general life transitions, and career change. Having spent most of my adult life working with adolescents in various venues, I also have a particularly strong affinity for working with adolescents.

I specialize in the field of loss/grief and have written, trained, and presented workshops on loss/grief since 1990. Helping clients learn to work toward reconciliation and integration of life losses is the basis of my work in this area.

My wife and I are both therapists and often work together with couples in our practice. We find that couples respond well to our co-therapist approach.
