Sometimes, Part Two: Day 24 of 365 – A Spontaneous Evening With Dear Friends!

Sometimes A Spontaneous Evening With Dear Friends Serves As A Balm For The Weary Soul!

Oh how we become caught up in the hustle and bustle of life! Early meetings and late meetings. Job demands. Family obligations. Classes. Workouts Health concerns. The list goes on and on. The problem with all this activity? They tend to drain the Soul of its energy and clarity.

There are many ways to re-energize the soul – meditation, yoga, exercise, writing in a journal, listening to music, reading poetry, going to a movie . . . Even these activities that are meant to relax carry their own brand of Soul depreciation. They all require a certain amount of planning, scheduling and manipulation of time. They wear away at the soul in a subtle way as well.

What then can we do to restore our souls? Well, perhaps we could open ourselves up for a little spontaneity. What might happen if one evening, out of the blue, we just reached out to dear friends and invited them over for an evening of table games or dinner or reruns of the Twilight Zone? You see, Sometimes A Spontaneous Evening With Dear Friends Serves As A Balm For The Weary Soul!

Stop! Breathe! Relax! Enjoy!

Peace!

I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1994 and a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor since 2011. I received my BA in Sociology and Psychology from Hardin-Simmons University and my Master’s in Counseling from the University of North Texas.

I specialize in the field of loss/grief and have written, trained, and presented workshops on loss/grief since 1990. Helping clients learn to work toward reconciliation and integration of life losses is the basis of my work in this area.

My wife and I are both therapists and often work together with couples in our practice. We find that couples respond well to our co-therapist approach.
