Briefly, the other day I was blessed to witness an incredible display of compassion, care and concern!

It seems that on a Saturday when we had all three of our grandsons — ages 5, 3 and 1 respectively — the middle grandson had an "accident" and peed his pants.  We've all been there at one point or another in our lives, right? — either literally or figuratively!  Anyway, I took the little guy into the bathroom and helped him clean up and change clothes.  He was obviously embarrassed and upset.  I did everything in my power to convey that all was OK and that HE was OK!

After leaving the bathroom, he continued to walk with his head down — acting embarrassed and a bit withdrawn.

Our oldest grandson picked up on this change of mood and asked "What's wrong?"

Middle grandson said, "Nothing!"

Oldest grandson asked again, "What's wrong?  Did something happen?"

"I had an accident," middle grandson finally said with head still cast downward.

Oldest grandson then put his arm around middle one and said, "That's OK!  We all have accidents sometimes!  I've had 'em!"

Then he went further.  I guess he thought I might have gotten on to middle grandson because oldest grandson and cousin said, "Golgi can be rough sometimes, but he still really loves you!"

Wow!  Caused me to tear up and wish that I could capture that moment on video and broadcast it to the world!

We all make mistakes sometimes, but we are loved and we do get other chances — provided we have someone to demonstrate care, compassion and concern!

I challenge each of us today to be aware of those in need of a hug; an encouraging word; a lift; a hand and do what is necessary to make their "mean time" a little easier!

Peace!

Mark
